Burgas hosts the 10th anniversary edition of the International Film Festival

The Burgas International Film Festival (BIFF) will mark its 10th anniversary with three festival stages, a rich selection of over 30 films, special guests, and surprises. The feature film selection this year includes bold films united by a strong authorial touch and deep human themes, which will transport viewers from the Hungarian province to the Viennese bohemia of the 80s, exploring themes such as identity, trauma, female freedom, and inner truth.

Highlights of the program include the AQUANIMA animation selection curated by Theodor Ushev, the new platform for experimental cinema "PLANKTON", the BURGAS CORNER selection dedicated to the city and its cultural identity, as well as a retrospective of the work of director Wong Kar Wai.

The festival will also offer a rich accompanying program, including the presentation of the book "The Manifesto. Dogma 95. Reflections on the Latest Bulgarian Cinema" by Dr. Elitsa Mateeva, a workshop on sound design with Peter Albrechtsen from Denmark, and a masterclass with the Hungarian film composer Adam Balazs.

The event is realized with the financial support of the Municipality of Burgas, the National Film Center, and the European Union, as well as the participation of partners such as the Hungarian Cultural Institute List, the Embassy of Austria, and several local companies.
