Burgas: Honor for Firefighters, Fire Safety Week is Marked

Burgas prepares to honor its heroes. In the spirit of a long-standing tradition, firefighters from the Regional Directorate "Fire Safety and Civil Protection" will celebrate their professional holiday with a series of events, culminating in a solemn ceremony. This event is part of the initiative "Fire Safety Week", which takes place from September 9 to 14 and is dedicated to efforts to raise public awareness and readiness in disaster situations.

On September 12 at 10:00 a.m., in the heart of the city, in front of the building of the Regional Directorate "Fire Safety and Civil Protection", located at "Alexander the Great" Street No. 37B, an official ceremony will be held. The event, filled with respect and gratitude, will bring together employees, their families, and members of the public. It will begin with a solemn laying of wreaths and flowers in front of the memorial plaque of the employees who died in the line of duty. In this moment of silence and respect, those who sacrificed their lives for public safety will be honored, reminding us of the constant risk that firefighters face every day.

After the commemoration, to pay a well-deserved tribute to their tireless work, a water blessing will be held for health and prosperity. The ceremony will continue with the awarding of the most distinguished employees from the regional directorate who have excelled with their professional skills, courage, and dedication throughout the year. Their achievements serve as an example and inspiration for their colleagues and for the entire community.

During the ceremony, the winners of the regional stage of the national children's drawing contest "My eyes saw the trouble" will also be honored. This initiative underscores the importance of early education for children on how to act during disasters and fires.

Other initiatives within the framework of Fire Safety Week

The initiatives of the Regional Directorate "Fire Safety and Civil Protection" are not limited to the solemn ceremony. As part of "Fire Safety Week", whose main goal is to improve fire safety culture, numerous educational and informational events have been organized.

• A large part of them are aimed at the youngest audience – children and adolescents. Special interactive sessions have been created for their benefit, where the little ones can get up close and personal with fire safety equipment and learn how to react correctly in the event of a fire or other disaster.
• At the same time, "Open Days" have been organized in all regional services. They provide an opportunity for all citizens and residents of the region to visit the buildings of the respective fire services and get acquainted with the daily life of firefighters. Visitors have the chance to see firsthand how firefighters train and work, what their equipment is like, and how they are organized.

These meetings aim to build awareness and responsibility in adolescents for their own safety and that of those around them. These events strengthen the connection between citizens and emergency services, creating an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
