On June 1st, Children's Day, in Burgas will be held the next edition of the "Books for Waste" campaign, which encourages recycling and the love of reading. The event will take place in the parking lot of the Kaufland store in the Slaveikov district, from 10 to 13 hours. Each participant will be able to hand over one kilogram of recyclable plastic and in return receive a book, regardless of the amount of waste.
The initiative is being implemented for the 12th consecutive year in the city and is organized by the Credo Bonum Foundation and Smart Books Publishing House with the support of Kaufland Bulgaria, the Bulgarian-American Credit Bank, and the local municipalities. The collected plastic will be recycled by "ECOPACK Bulgaria", a long-term partner of the campaign.
This year's edition will continue the theme "The Letters That Connect Us - Collect the 'Cyrillic' Collection", presenting new titles focusing on the letters of the Bulgarian alphabet, including "Here Are Seven - Italian Fairy Tales", "A Victim of the State Lottery" by Jaroslav Hasek, "The Golden Key or the Adventures of Buratino" by Alexey Tolstoy, "Once Upon a Time in the Bulgarian Lands", and others.
The event also supports Burgas' candidacy for the European Capital of Culture in 2032.
