Burgas without a filter: Tomorrow night we will see the city through the eyes of the young

If you're wondering what to do on Monday night, here's an idea worth considering. Tomorrow, December 8, the NHK Cultural Center opens the premiere of "Burgas out of Season" - a film festival that promises to show us our hometown as we rarely see it in advertising brochures.

Winter Burgas: No tourists, just us

Have you ever wondered what our city looks like through the eyes of a 16-year-old or a 20-year-old when the summer hustle and bustle is long forgotten? This festival was created precisely for that. Young artists - students and students - have been given complete freedom to film Burgas in its "quiet" phase. When the sea is gray, the streets are calm, and the city belongs only to us, the locals.

There are no glossy postcards here. These are real stories, filmed here and now. Whether it's a documentary or a feature film, the condition was the same: the film had to be shorter than 15 minutes and capture the spirit of the place out of season.

Why go?

We often complain that "nothing happens in the winter". Well, this time it's true. Ten teams received financial and logistical support from the municipality to realize their ideas, and tomorrow is the moment to see the results.

It is worth going, even out of curiosity - to see if young people see the same Burgas that we see. Will they surprise us with a hidden corner or make us laugh with a familiar urban setting?

Admission is free. Screenings start at NHK, so grab a friend and come support the new generation of Burgas directors. Who knows, maybe one of them is a future star of Bulgarian cinema?
