The city of Burgas, located by the sea, was the host of prestigious fencing tournaments for children in 2025. The European Fencing Confederation, the Bulgarian Fencing Federation, the Bulgarian Fencing Academy, and the Corsar Fencing Club, with the special support of the Municipality of Burgas and the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem - Priory Bulgaria, organized the European Cup for Children under 14 and the international tournament Burgas Cup 2025 in fencing for children under 12 years old. The competitions were held in the "Nikola Stanchev" sports hall and were attended by young fencers from Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Romania, Italy, and Kazakhstan.
Ivaylo Andonov, a student of the "Olympic" fencing club, triumphed in the European Sabre Cup for Under 14, prevailing over 33 competitors from 4 countries. Four other Bulgarian fencers placed in the top 8 - Yavor Prokopov is third, Atanas Kadiski is fifth, Boris Iliev is seventh, and Boris Shutov is eighth. Andonov started strong, emerging from the group stage with 6 wins out of 6 matches and continued confidently, defeating opponents from Turkey and Romania.
In the girls' under 14 category, Ekaterina Chausheva from the "Corsar" fencing club won the silver medal. She successfully navigated the eliminations, defeating fencers from Turkey, but lost in the final to Mihrimah Aksu from Turkey. Three other Bulgarian girls placed in the top 8 - Sofia Tsoneva is third, Sofia Delcheva is seventh, and Elia Alexandrova is eighth.
In the competition for the youngest, under 12 years old, the champion among the boys was Petar Petrov from the "Ahil" fencing club, and Rozalin Angelov from the "Markeli" club in Karnobat, Roni Bindal, and Petar Ivanov from "Corsar" placed in the top 10. Among the girls under 12, Martina Hristova from the Burgas club finished in seventh place, and Dariya Antova, Lachezara Zarkova, and Siana Dimitrova from "Corsar" also performed well.
In the team competitions, the Bulgarian teams won two silver and one bronze medal. In the boys' under 14 category, the first Bulgarian team took second place, and the second team won the bronze. In the girls' under 14 category, the second Bulgarian team placed second.
The medalists were awarded by the Commandant of the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem - Priory Bulgaria, Plamen Rusev. All the results of the competition can be followed on the specially created website for this purpose.
