In Burgas, a unique phenomenon is observed – the city, open to the world and innovative ideas, even in the turbulent times of the past century. According to screenwriter Antoaneta Bachurova and director Vladimir Lyutskanov, who gave an interview for the television channel Kultura.BG, the city was tireless, leading in cultural life. "Even in the 50s of the last century, this city was awake, an open port city. The whole city was burning with the theater, it created the trend. The theater was the center of public life" , they share.

The port city will host the screening of the documentary film "Sisyphuses" on December 5 at 19:00 in the Cultural House NHK. The film, directed by Vladimir Lyutskanov, traces the history of a famous Burgas quartet of actors: Metodi Andonov, Yuliya Ognyanova, Leon Daniel, and Vili Tsankov.

The film presents the challenges faced by these artists, and the group of young actors who dare to introduce new, experimental, and intellectual productions in the theater, in contrast to the imposed Stalinist aesthetics. Their experiments with Brecht's "method of alienation" become a phenomenon with great artistic influence. The authorities then define this as "formalistic" and intervene politically.

The script is by Antoaneta Bachurova, and the cameraman is Veselin Hristov. In the documentary film, viewers will have the opportunity to see Yuliya Ognyanova, Vili Tsankov, Leon Daniel, Dosi Dosev, Ivan Teofilov, Georgi Dyulgerov, Rusi Chanev, and others. The film is a production of Vip Media Film with the support of the National Film Center, in co-production with Burgas Municipality, Cinemac, and the State Agency "Archives".
