Burgas celebrates 100 years since the birth of Georgi Kaloyancev with the premiere of the play "Mr. Ganyo Balkanski" — Снимка от Pexels

The Municipality of Burgas is organizing a special theatrical performance to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the legendary actor Georgi Kaloyanchev. The production "Mr. Ganya Balkanski" will be performed on June 14 at the Cultural Center NHK and will feature the participation of a number of established artists.

Burgazlians and the city's guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the premiere of the performance "Mr. Ganya Balkanski" on June 14 at 7:00 pm at the National Palace of Culture Cultural House. Famous actors such as Ivaylo Kaloyanchev, Ivaylo Zahariey, Veselin Tsanev, Ivan Ivanov, Valentin Balabanov, Vladimir Bogdanov, Viktoriya Yaneva, and Vassilka Sumeva will take the stage. The director of the production is Nikola Petkov, the artist is Georgi Slavkov, and the composer is Yuri Stupel. The play was written by Georgi Danailov based on the text of Aleko Konstantinov, specifically for the 60th anniversary of Georgi Kaloyanchev, and its premiere was in 1985.

Today, the role of Ganya Balkanski will be played by Kaloyanchev's son, Ivaylo Kaloyanchev, who, according to his father's words, "can play better than him, can play worse than him, but cannot play like him." The production of the Nevena Kokanova Municipal Drama Theater, Dupnitsa, with guest actors from the Satirical Theater, which will be presented in Burgas, has toured dozens of stages in the country and abroad, including the USA, Canada, England, Belgium, Germany, Austria, and Greece.

Tickets for the performance are already on sale at the Clock Box Office for 10 leva.
