Divine Comedy in Burgas: Kalin Vrachanski and Toncho Tokmakchiev on Stage

On February 24th, the State Opera in Burgas will transform into the stage for an exceptional theatrical event. For the first time in Bulgaria, "Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri comes to life on a theatrical stage – a performance by Lilia Abadjieva - a bold, large-scale, and conceptually unseen production by the Drama and Puppet Theatre "Vasil Drumev" – Shumen.

The performance carries a clear authorial presence, characteristic of Lilia Abadjieva's directorial style – a theatre of great philosophical questions, of strong emotional impact. In the leading roles, the audience will see Kalin Vrachanski and Toncho Tokmakchiev – actors with impressive stage presence and a deep artistic range. The "Divine Comedy" also features actors from the Shumen theatre and students from Lilia Abadjieva's class.

"Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri is a spectacle that leads the viewer through the realms of Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise, not just as a spatial journey, but as a dramatic inner path of the human spirit. The production embodies Dante's philosophical legacy, in which man confronts his own destiny, his moral choices, and the possibility of spiritual elevation.

The dramatization and direction are the work of Lilia Abadjieva, who also creates the musical picture of the performance. The set design and costumes are by Vasil Abadjiev, the camera, editing, and video processing are entrusted to Ivan Abadjiev, and the assistant director is Albena Babeva.

The performance features - Kalin Vrachanski – guest, Toncho Tokmakchiev – guest, and the actors from the troupe of the Drama and Puppet Theatre "Vasil Drumev" – Shumen: Alexandra Mihailova, Antonia Veleva, Aleksandar Pritup, Borislav Valov, Vanesa Peyankova, Veselin Barbarkov, Kalin Pacherazki, Natali Nikova, Petar Andreev, Svetlyo Ivanov, Stefan Maradzhiev and students from Lilia Abadjieva's class.
