Burgas will host a free sports and green event called "Start Green!" on 4 October 2026 from 2pm, organisers say. People will gather at the small car park in front of the Saint Anastasia children's hospital.

The day includes a family 5km run and a bike ride. Children will plant trees and can "adopt" them afterwards. There will also be a graffiti workshop and other activities for kids and adults.

Organisers are calling on children and adults, families and friends to join in, and say no training is needed - all you need is a bike or a pair of trainers.

The event is part of the Regions4Climate project, No. 101093873, funded under the Horizon Europe programme. The project aims to help regions cope better with climate change and adapt to it through shared solutions and local community involvement.

The event's motto is: "Let's outrun ourselves. Let's move together. Let's start green!"
