15 Years After 'Black Swan': Portman and Kunis on the Difficult Scene and Personal Life Changes

The film that brought Natalie Portman an Oscar for Best Actress turns 15, and the main stars recall working on Darren Aronofsky's project. In an interview with Vogue, Portman and Mila Kunis openly share about the filming, including the iconic sex scene between them.

Portman admits that this was the «only scene that was quite difficult to shoot». Although the director presented the task as easy, the actress remembers the tension: «We were standing in the room, breathing heavily and nervously, until Darren yelled 'action' and we just did it.» Fortunately, the scene was shot only once, but Portman remains hesitant: «It was definitely the scene where I thought: 'I don't feel comfortable with this.'»

Mila Kunis has a different memory – she shares with a smile that she has «completely forgotten the scene» and didn't even feel it was difficult: «I was quickly reviewing the film in my mind and thinking: 'Hmm, what was hard?'»

The project is also significant for Portman's personal life. During filming, she met Benjamin Millepied, a leading dancer in the New York City Ballet, who was still in a relationship with prima ballerina Isabella Boylston at the time. Subsequently, Portman and Millepied married in August 2012 and have two children – son Aleph (14 years old) and daughter Amalia (8 years old). The couple divorces in March 2024, after Millepied begins a relationship with a 21-year-younger activist, reports She Knows.
