Temporary restrictions for heavy goods traffic
In order to increase road safety, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) is introducing restrictions on the movement of heavy trucks over 12 tons on key routes.
The measures are aimed at reducing road accidents and the formation of vehicle queues during peak hours.
Schedule of restrictions
- Today (Friday): Between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM in the direction of Burgas and "Kulata".
- Sunday: Between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM for trucks traveling towards Sofia.
- Frequency: The restrictions will apply every Friday and Sunday until the end of August.
Reversible traffic near Simitli
To facilitate traffic towards Bansko, reversible traffic is being introduced:
- Friday: Two lanes towards "Kulata", one towards Sofia.
- Sunday: Two lanes towards Sofia, one towards "Kulata".
Exceptions and summer temperatures
The restrictions do not apply to the transport of dangerous goods (ADR), live animals, perishable goods, and public passenger transport. Additionally, during temperatures above 35 degrees, the movement of trucks over 20 tons may be stopped in certain regions of the country.
