Temporary traffic restrictions on motorways
Starting today until August 21, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) is launching large-scale vegetation clearing activities along roadsides. The changes in traffic organization affect critical sections of the Hemus Motorway and the Trakia Motorway in the Sofia region.
Drivers are urged to strictly observe road signs and speed limits to ensure the safety of the crews and other road users.
Schedule of activities on Hemus Motorway
- 10-12 km (direction Varna): Today, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The emergency lane is restricted.
- 61-70 km (direction Varna): Until August 19, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Traffic is redirected to the active lane.
- 12-14 km (direction Varna): August 18 and 19, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Passing lane restricted.
- 53-54 km (both directions): August 20 and 21, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The emergency lane is restricted.
Restrictions on Trakia Motorway
Today, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., the emergency lane will be restricted in the section from the 13th to the 21st km (direction Sofia). Traffic will flow normally in the remaining lanes.
The RIA reminds drivers that such maintenance activities are key to visibility and road safety, and appeals for patience from motorists.
