Attention drivers: Heavy truck traffic restricted on motorways

The Road Infrastructure Agency is introducing temporary restrictions for trucks over 12 tons on the Trakia and Struma motorways, as well as through the Kresna Gorge, to ease traffic during peak hours.

Weekend heavy traffic restrictions

To improve safety and facilitate travel, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) is introducing temporary restrictions for heavy goods vehicles over 12 tons. The measures affect the "Trakia" and "Struma" motorways, as well as the road section through the Kresna Gorge (from the "Simitli" junction to the "Kulata" border crossing).

The restriction is in effect today, from 16:00 to 20:00, for trucks traveling towards Sofia.

Who is exempt from the restrictions?

Reversible traffic near Simitli

To facilitate the return of tourists from Bansko and the region, reversible traffic will be organized in the Simitli area: two lanes for those traveling towards Sofia and one towards Kulata.

Drivers can monitor road traffic in real-time through the interactive map of the RIA and the National Toll Administration. The RIA reminds drivers not to use emergency lanes for overtaking and to drive with increased caution.
