Temporary restrictions for heavy goods vehicles
In order to increase safety during the heavy weekend traffic, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) is introducing temporary restrictions for the movement of heavy goods vehicles over 12 tons on key road arteries:
- Trakia Motorway
- Struma Motorway
- Road I-1 (Kresna Gorge) in the section from Simitli to the Kulata border crossing
The restrictions are valid on Friday (from 16:00 to 23:00) and Sunday (from 15:30 to 22:00).
Alternative routes and reversible traffic
Drivers of heavy goods vehicles can use:
- For those traveling to Burgas – the I-6 Sub-Balkan road.
- For those traveling to the Kulata border crossing – road II-19 Simitli – Gotse Delchev and road III-198.
To facilitate traffic, reversible traffic will be introduced in the Simitli area, with lanes being regulated according to traffic density on Fridays and Sundays.
Important during heatwaves
At temperatures above 35°C, additional restrictions for trucks over 20 tons may be introduced to protect the asphalt pavement from deformation. Up-to-date information on road conditions and traffic can be monitored in real-time on the RIA website and bgtoll.bg.
