Temporary traffic restrictions for trucks over 12 tons
To improve safety and facilitate traffic, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) is introducing temporary restrictions for heavy goods vehicles over 12 tons during weekends.
The restriction is in effect for the "Trakia" and "Struma" motorways, as well as on road I-1 through the Kresna Gorge.
When do the restrictions apply?
- Friday: from 16:00 to 23:00.
- Sunday: from 15:30 to 22:00.
Alternative routes
Drivers of heavy goods vehicles traveling towards Burgas can use the Sub-Balkan road I-6. For those traveling towards the Kulata border crossing, a detour route is provided via Simitli – Gotse Delchev – Kulata.
Reversible traffic at Simitli
To facilitate travel towards Bansko and Sofia, reversible traffic will be implemented in the Simitli area:
- On Friday: two lanes towards Kulata, one towards Sofia.
- On Sunday: two lanes towards Sofia, one towards Kulata.
Important: The restrictions do not apply to the transport of dangerous goods (ADR), live animals, perishable foods, public transport, and road maintenance vehicles.
