Do not trust strangers who offer assistance or better conditions for exchanging leva for euros. This is a warning from the police.
The head of the "Fraud" sector at the General Directorate of National Police, Chief Inspector Zlatka Padinkova, urges citizens to be careful when offered currency exchange or the exchange of leva for euros.

Do not give money to strangers who present themselves as employees of banks, post offices, police, and others. Do not be misled by an offer to store your savings. No institution offers such a service for a fee."

The police urge citizens to immediately report to tel. 112 or visit the nearest Ministry of Interior structure if they suspect fraud or other abuse.
