GERB-UDF refers the Budget to the Constitutional Court
Vladislav Goranov from GERB-UDF officially announced that a request to establish the unconstitutionality of the State Budget Act has been submitted to the registry of the Constitutional Court (CC).
"The existing fiscal rules described in the Public Finance Act cannot be violated lightly," Goranov stated firmly.
Main arguments of the opposition
- The law contradicts the organic law on public finance management.
- The principles of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU are being violated.
- Concerns that a majority of 131 MPs are making decisions that disregard established frameworks.
The complaint is signed by 50 members of parliament, and support was sought and received from "We Continue the Change" (PP). GERB-UDF stated their readiness to also support the future complaint that PP is preparing on the topic.
What happens if the budget is repealed?
According to Goranov, in the event of the Constitutional Court repealing the provisions, the country will continue to function according to the previous extension act. We remind you that the 2026 budget was finally adopted on July 24 and promulgated by Vice President Iliana Iotova.
