Temporary traffic restrictions for heavy goods vehicles
In order to ensure a safer and smoother journey during busy days, the Road Infrastructure Agency is introducing a movement restriction for heavy goods vehicles over 12 tonnes on:
- Trakia Motorway
- Struma Motorway
- Road I-1 through the Kresna Gorge
The ban enters into force on Friday (July 17) from 16:00 to 23:00 and on Sunday (July 19) from 15:30 to 22:00 in both directions.
Reversible traffic near Simitli
To facilitate traffic through the Kresna Gorge, a reversible traffic organization is being introduced in the area of Simitli:
- Friday: two lanes towards Kulata.
- Sunday: two lanes towards Sofia.
Exceptions to the ban
The restriction does not apply to:
- Buses
- Vehicles carrying dangerous goods
- Live animals
- Perishable food products
- Specialized rendering vehicles
- Road maintenance vehicles
Traffic Police urge drivers to drive carefully, observe speed limits, and not use the emergency lane for overtaking.
