The Ministry of Interior (MVR) published extremely concerning information regarding road safety in Bulgaria. According to official statistics, in just one day, 26 serious traffic accidents were registered, which claimed the lives of two people and caused bodily injuries to 31 citizens.

The capital is the epicenter of road incidents, with 14 minor traffic accidents occurring in the urban area. This concentration of incidents raises serious questions about urban infrastructure and driver behavior in Sofia.

The annual statistics of the MVR reveal an even more disturbing trend. Since the beginning of the current year, 244 people have already lost their lives in various road incidents. Experts from the ministry conducted a comparative analysis with the previous 2024 year, which shows some improvement in road safety.

In comparison with the data for the same period last year, when 254 people died, in 2025 there is a decrease of ten people. Although minimal, this reduction can be viewed as a positive trend in efforts to improve road safety.

The statistics unequivocally necessitate the continuation of preventive measures, improvement of road infrastructure, and enhancement of overall transport culture among traffic participants.
