The firefighters' tally: 144 fires in 24 hours
Over the past 24 hours, fire departments across the country have extinguished a total of 144 fires and responded to 208 reports of incidents. Despite the efforts of the teams, one fatality was registered.
"29 fires resulted in direct material damage, 6 of which occurred in residential buildings," reported the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Civil Protection (GDFSCP).
The incident on the Trakia motorway
On July 8, at 11:10 a.m., teams from the Pazardzhik Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Civil Protection were mobilized following a report at the 88th kilometer of the Trakia motorway. Upon arrival, firefighters found a heavy goods vehicle loaded with paper rolls engulfed in flames.
- Completely destroyed truck and cargo;
- The fire also spread to 2 decares of wheat crops;
- Prompt response by two fire crews.
A total of 59 rescue operations were carried out, and there were only 5 false alarms for the day.
