One tragic day on the roads in Bulgaria took the life of one person and left 23 injured as a result of traffic accidents in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior (MIA) announced on its official page. The data, announced by the institution, paints a grim picture of the state of road safety in the country. Within the last 24 hours, a total of 19 serious accidents were registered, leading to casualties and injuries.

The situation in the capital, Sofia, also does not remain unaffected by these worrying trends. A total of 29 minor accidents and one serious accident were reported in the city. Fortunately, there were no fatalities in these incidents, but one person was injured.

Looking at the bigger picture, it becomes clear that the statistics show serious problems. Since the beginning of the current month alone, 120 accidents have been registered, leading to 8 deaths and 160 injuries. The comparison with a longer period of time is also worrying. Since the beginning of the year, the total number of traffic accidents amounts to 5251. These incidents have taken the lives of 334 people and caused injuries to 6567. The data reflects the urgent need to take effective measures to improve road safety in Bulgaria and prevent future tragedies.
