Tragedy in Bulgaria: 132 fires in 24 hours and one person dead

Critical wildfire situation in Bulgaria

Over the past 24 hours, firefighters in the country have extinguished a total of 132 fires, according to the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection (GDFSPP). Unfortunately, the incidents also claimed one victim.

Data as of 06:00 shows intense activity by the teams in all directions.

Incident statistics

• Fires with material damage: 28 (8 in residential buildings, 3 in farm buildings, and 10 in transport vehicles).
• Fires without material damage: 104 (dry grass, waste, and forest litter).
• Rescue operations: 43 successful missions, including assistance during accidents and water drainage.

Ongoing danger

At the moment, the firefighters' efforts are also directed toward containing the fire in Pirin National Park, below Sharalia peak. Within the day, 13 false alarms were also recorded.
