Major Car Accidents in Bulgaria: 7 Victims and 30 Injured in 24 Hours

Over the past 24 hours, our country has been shaken by a series of severe road incidents that have taken a serious toll. According to data provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 26 major car accidents were registered in 24 hours, in which seven people died and another 30 were injured.

Confirmed data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs show that the total number of incidents is distributed throughout the country, with an emphasis on two cities - the capital and one other.

In Sofia, the traffic situation also remains tense. Within the 24-hour period, two major road accidents occurred in the capital, as well as 19 minor incidents. In these events, four people were injured, which underscores the seriousness of the situation not only on the main intercity roads, but also in urban conditions.

The statistics for the beginning of the month also paint a worrying picture. Since the beginning of the month alone, 65 accidents have occurred in the country. As a result, seven people have lost their lives, and 75 have been injured. These figures show that the danger on the road remains high and constant efforts are needed to improve safety.

From the beginning of the year until today, the total number of registered road accidents has reached 4565. These incidents have claimed the lives of 291 people, and the number of injured is 5747.

Against the background of this tragic data, the Ministry of Internal Affairs notes one positive trend. When compared to the actual data for the same period in the previous year, 2024, a decrease in the number of victims is noted. In 2025, there were 10 fewer deaths. Although this is a small relief, this fact does not diminish the seriousness of the situation. Road incidents continue to be a major cause of loss of human life and serious injury in the country.
