ONE DEAD AND 13 INJURED IN SEVERE ACCIDENTS OVER THE LAST 24 HOURS

A tragic road incident has taken the life of one person, while 13 others were injured in a total of 14 severe road accidents that occurred across the country over the last 24 hours. The alarming statistics were announced by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and once again draw attention to the critical state of road safety.

The traffic situation also remains tense, specifically in the capital city, Sofia. For the same 24-hour period, one severe road accident and 13 minor ones were registered, in which one person was injured. This latest incident in the capital shows that the problem with traffic and safety isn't only an intercity issue but also directly affects large populated areas.

The picture hasn't been more optimistic since the beginning of the current month. To date, 169 accidents have been registered, leading to the death of 13 people and injuries to 191. These data underscore the persistent trend of a high accident rate on the roads, which continues to claim its victims.

The scale of the tragedy becomes even more visible when looking at the overall statistics from the beginning of the year. From January 1st until now, a shocking 4669 road accidents have been registered. In them, 298 people have lost their lives, and 5862 have been injured. Behind each of these numbers is a human fate, a family, and a personal tragedy, which turns the dry statistics into a painful reality.

Despite the grim data, the MoI also announced a slight, though insufficient, positive trend. When compared to the data for the same period in 2024, 2025 has seen eight fewer fatalities among road users. While this provides little reason for optimism, this comparison cannot erase the immense number of victims and injured who continue to fill the daily bulletins of the traffic police.
