The Sofia City Court has imposed the strictest remand measure, "detention in custody," on a 36-year-old woman charged with possession of high-risk narcotics with the intent to distribute. The decision was made following a request from the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, the public prosecution service announced.
The woman, identified by the initials I.D., is being held criminally liable for a crime committed on August 19 in Sofia. The investigation revealed that she was in possession of 33.82 grams of fentanyl and 6.32 grams of methamphetamine without the required permit. The narcotics were divided into a total of 20 individual packages – 18 containing fentanyl and two containing methamphetamine.
The magistrates agreed with the prosecution's argument that the collected evidence provides a reasonable presumption of the defendant's involvement in the crime. The court concluded that there is a real risk of the woman committing another offense. Work on the case continues under the supervision of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office and officers from the 03rd Precinct of the Sofia Directorate of the Interior (SDVR).
It should be recalled that last week, a man and a woman were arrested in two separate police operations targeting drug distribution in the capital.
