Snow Removal and Road Restrictions
Over 440 snowplows are treating the road surfaces on the national roads, the Road Infrastructure Agency (API) announced. The routes are being cleared and are passable in winter conditions. Work continues, but snowdrifts are forming due to the strong wind.
Snow is currently falling in 11 regions, with forecasts for a gradual cessation of snowfall and strong winds.
Traffic Restrictions
- The passage of all vehicles on the section between Burgas and Zimnitsa on the "Trakia" motorway is temporarily restricted. Drivers of light vehicles can use the first-class road I-1 Yambol - Burgas as an alternative route.
- Restrictions for heavy goods vehicles in the regions of Silistra and Dobrich, as well as on roads in Ruse, Varna, Pazardzhik, Smolyan and Shumen.
Recommendations for Drivers
API appeals to drivers to:
- Start with cars prepared for winter conditions;
- Drive at a speed appropriate for winter conditions;
- Do not undertake risky maneuvers;
- Do not overtake snow removal equipment.
Due to snowfall overnight, the road situation in some places in the country is complicated, and some municipalities have declared a non-school day.
