Drunk Romanian driver attempted to bribe police in Chepelare with 50 euros

Police in Chepelare detained a 52-year-old foreign national who was driving with a blood alcohol level of 1.31 per mille. The man attempted to bribe the officers to avoid sanctions.

The Road Incident

As part of a specialized police operation for freight traffic control, officers from the Chepelare Police Department stopped a truck with Romanian registration for an inspection. The vehicle had demonstrated risky behavior on the road.

The breathalyzer test established that the 52-year-old driver was behind the wheel with a blood alcohol concentration of 1.31 per mille.

Attempted Bribery

Upon realizing he would be sanctioned, the driver attempted to evade responsibility by throwing a 50-euro banknote into the official police vehicle.

The man has been detained for up to 24 hours. The investigation into the case continues under the supervision of the District and Regional Prosecutor's Office – Smolyan.
