Campaign against traffic violators
In just one day since the start of intensified controls on heavy goods vehicles in Sofia, 32 drivers have been sanctioned. The data was presented by Ivo Bikov from the Traffic Police Department at the Sofia Metropolitan Directorate of Interior (SDVR).
"Every driver in a hurry is potentially dangerous," commented Ivo Bikov, urging transport companies not to pressure drivers into meeting tight schedules.
Main violations identified:
- Using a mobile phone while driving (4 cases);
- Incorrect maneuvers and overtaking (3 cases);
- Lack of an annual technical inspection (2 cases);
- Irregular travel documents (4 cases);
- Uncovered loads (1 case).
Poor state of the equipment
The police have raised an alarm that a large number of trucks are being driven in a poor technical condition. The most frequent problems include:
- Broken windshields;
- Missing or damaged fasteners;
- Use of worn-out and old tires.
