Increased police control on the roads in Bulgaria
Another large-scale specialized operation by the Ministry of the Interior has revealed alarming data regarding traffic safety. Over the past day, thousands of drivers have been checked, and the results show systematic non-compliance with the Road Traffic Act.
A total of 18 drivers were caught behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol, and 12 people refused a test or were driving under the influence of drugs.
Violation statistics
- Alcohol use: 9 drivers had a concentration between 0.5 and 1.2 per mille, while another 9 had over 1.2 per mille. One driver refused a check.
- Drug use: 8 drivers were caught under the influence of narcotic substances, and 4 refused testing.
- Scale of checks: A total of 14,612 vehicles and 17,955 passengers were checked.
During the operation, 4,223 fine slips and 431 acts for administrative violations were issued. The main focus of the checks remains preventing unlicensed drivers and drivers under the influence of intoxicants from being on the road.
