Serious concern is raised by the data on road traffic accidents in the country, reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) on their official website. According to the latest report, only in the last 24 hours, 14 serious accidents were registered, which led to the injury of a total of 17 people.

The situation in the capital is also not rosy. In Sofia, two serious and 28 minor road traffic accidents were reported for the same period, in which two people were injured.

Looking at the data for the current month, the picture becomes even more worrying. Since the beginning of the period, 463 accidents have been registered, as a result of which 38 people have lost their lives and 565 have been injured.

The overall statistics from the beginning of the month show 5599 road traffic accidents. These accidents have taken the lives of 367 people and have caused injuries to 6976.

Despite the grim picture, the MIA also notes a small positive trend. Compared to the data for the fatalities during the same period of the previous year, they report three fewer road deaths this year. This can be seen as a signal for improvement in safety measures, although the current statistics are still worrying.

The situation on the roads remains a challenge, requiring attention from all road users.
