Over the past 24 hours, the Bulgarian road network has once again been the scene of tragic events. According to information published on the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 16 people were injured in road accidents within the last 24 hours.

The data indicates a worrying trend. During the same period, 15 serious accidents were registered, leading to injuries.

In the capital, Sofia, the situation is also concerning. In the past 24 hours, 16 minor accidents were registered, as well as one serious one. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but one person was injured.

Gathering the information from the beginning of the current month, the picture becomes even more grim. The Ministry of Interior reports a total of 94 accidents, which have claimed the lives of 12 people and led to injuries of another 110.

The analysis of the data for the current year reveals serious concern. Since the beginning of the year, 5727 road accidents have been registered. These incidents have caused the death of 383 people, and 7124 have been injured.

The comparison of the data on fatalities deserves special attention. Comparing the data from the current year with those from the same period of the previous year, it becomes clear that there is an increase. Specifically, this year the number of road deaths is six more than the data for fatalities during the same period of 2024. This underlines the need for urgent measures to improve road safety.
