One human life has been taken, and another 17 people have been injured as a result of road traffic accidents in the last 24 hours alone, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced on its official website. The data reflects the grim reality of the roads, where serious accidents with significant consequences do not stop. In the last 24 hours, a total of 14 serious accidents have been registered, which have led to casualties and injuries.

In the capital, Sofia, the situation is also worrying. Over the same 24 hours, 20 minor accidents and four serious ones were registered. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but five people were injured as a result of these incidents.

An analysis of the data for the current month paints an even grimmer picture. Since the beginning of the month, the roads have been the scene of 281 accidents, as a result of which 27 people have lost their lives, and another 354 have been injured. This statistic clearly shows the need for increased road safety measures and vigilance on the part of all road users.

If we look at the whole year, the statistics are even more shocking. Since the beginning of the year, 5913 road traffic accidents have been registered. The tragic balance includes 400 fatalities and 7365 injured. Despite these high figures, there is also a positive trend. Compared to the data for the same period of the previous year, there is a slight decrease in the number of deaths. For 2025, there are 15 fewer victims on the road compared to the same period of 2024, which can be seen as a small step forward.
