A warning for dangerous meteorological phenomena of second degree - orange code, and first - yellow code, is in effect for today, for snowfalls, for strong and stormy wind in most of the country. In the night hours in Northeastern Bulgaria there will also be conditions for icy conditions, it is reported in the map with warning codes for dangerous meteorology, published on the website of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH).
A yellow code for strong wind and significant sea swell along the coast is also issued for today by NIMH.
Today, the precipitation will stop from the west, latest in the eastern regions, where it will remain cloudy with snowfalls for most of the day. In the afternoon the cloud cover will also break up and decrease to mostly sunny weather. It will be windy with moderate and strong northwesterly wind. The maximum temperatures will be between 2 and 7 degrees, in Sofia - around 3 degrees.
It will be cloudy with snowfalls in the mountains. In places the precipitation will be significant in quantity and a new snow cover will form. Around noon the precipitation will stop from the west and the cloud cover will break up and decrease. A stormy and hurricane northwesterly wind will blow, there will be conditions for blizzards and drifts along the passes. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200 meters will be around minus 5 degrees, at 2000 meters - around minus 9 degrees, according to NIMH.
