A strong storm caused chaos in Sofia
Torrential rains that poured over the capital caused serious difficulties. At the moment, nearly 100 reports have been received about fallen branches and trees, as well as flooded road sections and underpasses.
According to the NIMH, the amount of rainfall in the central and southern neighborhoods varied between 15 and 30 liters per square meter.
Damages and public transport problems
- A fallen tree blocked trolleybus traffic in the area of Stochna Gara.
- Flooded tram tracks hindered passage along Pirotska and Odrin streets (traffic has already been restored).
- Tram traffic has been stopped at the intersection of Alexander Stamboliyski Blvd. and Antim I St., as well as at the Geo Milev turning loop.
Fortunately, there is no information about injured people. Teams from the "Emergency Assistance and Prevention" directorate have been mobilized and are working to clear the damage. A case of a tree falling on a passenger car was registered on Krakra St.
