The Municipality of Sozopol offers surviving spouses of honorary citizens free firewood. The report was submitted by Mayor Tihomir Yanakiev and will be voted on at today's meeting of the Municipal Council.
The proposal envisages a change in the Ordinance on Symbols and the Honorary Award System of the municipality, which allows the spouses of deceased honorary citizens to continue to enjoy certain rights granted to their spouses during their lifetime. One of these rights is the free receipt of firewood from the "for local population" quota.
In addition, the councilors will consider other proposals related to local fees, projects for disaster response, updating the tariff policy of the municipal enterprise "Fishing Ports", as well as issues of waste management and the prices of firewood. Proposals for urban planning, tourism, economic policy and the management of municipal property will also be considered, including an annual program for property management and the establishment of a free right of use.
The agenda also includes reports concerning the annual program for the development of community center activities in the municipality of Sozopol for 2026, as well as a proposal to grant financial assistance to residents of the municipality.
