Today in Burgas, the memory of police officers Yordan Iliev and Atanas Gradev, who lost their lives four years ago while attempting to stop a bus carrying illegal migrants, will be honored. The commemorative ceremony will take place at the monument erected at the site of their death, with Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev also set to attend.

Four years after the tragic incident, the trial against the driver of the vehicle has not yet reached a final conclusion. The Burgas District Court sentenced Syrian national Omar Adnan to 20 years in prison. The verdict was appealed by both sides, and the case was heard by the Appellate Court on July 22. The decision of the second instance is currently pending, with the statutory two-month deadline expiring in September.
