National commemorations with the participation of Vice President Iliana Iotova
Today, Bulgaria pays tribute to its heroes as part of large-scale national commemorations. Vice President Iliana Iotova will take part in the marking of two of the most significant events in Bulgarian history – the 149th anniversary of the Shipka Epic and the 123rd anniversary of the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising.
"Homage to the memory of those who died for the freedom and national unification of Bulgaria."
Shipka: 149 years since the epic
The commemorations at Shipka Peak are held under the patronage of the President. The program includes:
- 12:00 PM – Inspection of the honor guard by the Vice President and a memorial service.
- 12:20 PM – Solemn speech and laying of wreaths at the Monument of Freedom.
For the convenience of citizens, the Monument of Freedom will be open with extended hours and free admission throughout the day.
Petrova Niva: Tribute to the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising
In the evening, attention shifts to the Petrova Niva area. Iliana Iotova's traditional participation in the gathering includes:
- 8:00 PM – Memorial service at the "St. Petka" ossuary church.
- 8:30 PM – Commemorative ceremony at the Memorial, featuring a speech by the head of state and an honor guard from the National Guards Unit.
Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov will also join the commemorations, as the state authorities pay their respects to the feat of our ancestors.
