A new forest fire broke out in the Haskovo region, threatening forest areas and prompting a rapid response from local authorities and fire services. The incident, which started in the afternoon between the villages of Elena and Momino in the Haskovo municipality, quickly spread, engulfing mixed forest, dry grass, and shrubs.

According to information from the press center of the regional administration in Haskovo, the situation is developing dynamically, with flames already entering forested terrain. This has prompted the immediate mobilization of significant firefighting resources.

Eight teams from the Regional Directorate of "Fire Safety and Population Protection" have been dispatched to the scene. A heavy tracked vehicle is also involved in the efforts to control the fire, creating clearings to limit the spread of the flames. This strategy is key to preventing further expansion of the fire and protecting surrounding areas.

The Deputy Mayor of Haskovo, Dinko Tenev, is personally present at the incident site, demonstrating the seriousness with which local authorities are treating the situation. Additionally, the entire available staff of the Municipal Forestry - Haskovo has been mobilized, and equipment from the municipal enterprise "Ecoprogress" is supporting the firefighters' efforts.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, the municipality assures that there is no immediate danger to the residents of Elena and Momino villages. This message aims to calm the local population, but authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.

Meanwhile, the Haskovo region is battling another large-scale fire that has been burning since Monday on the western slopes of Sakar Mountain, affecting the municipalities of Harmanli and Lyubimets. The gravity of the situation is underscored by the presence of Alexander Dzhartov, the director of the General Directorate of "Fire Safety and Population Protection", on site.

These incidents highlight the growing risk of forest fires in the region, especially during the summer season when dry conditions and high temperatures create favorable conditions for rapid fire spread. Experts call for increased vigilance and strict adherence to fire prevention measures by the population to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Local authorities and fire services continue to work tirelessly to control the situation, with additional information on the development of the fires expected to be provided in the coming hours.
