Critical forest fire situation near Haskovo
A serious fire broke out around noon today in the area of the Haskovo villages of Dinevo and Koren. The fire is spreading near the military training ground, with thick smoke visible from the entire city.
11 firefighting teams, a bulldozer, and many volunteers are participating in the extinguishing efforts, and helicopter assistance is also expected.
Main factors hindering the firefighting efforts:
- Extreme temperatures: Thermometers in the region reached nearly 40 degrees.
- Strong wind: Weather conditions are further fanning the flames.
- Difficult terrain: Bushes and grass are burning, but the fire is moving dangerously toward a forest area.
The regional administration in Haskovo warns that an extreme risk of fire has been declared for the region. The situation remains dynamic and dangerous.
