A fire broke out late last night on Youth Hill in Plovdiv. Thanks to the quick reaction of the firefighters, the fire was localized and extinguished before it could spread over a larger part of the hill.
The flames started from the northwestern slope of the hill. Thick smoke was visible from nearby residential areas, and citizens reported the incident to phone 112.
Several fire brigade teams were sent to the scene. The firefighters operated on difficult terrain and managed to limit the spread of the fire.
Mainly dry grass vegetation and bushes burned. At the moment, there is no data on injured people, nor on affected residential buildings.
The fire occurred in the same part of Youth Hill where there was a fire last year as well. The competent institutions are yet to establish the cause of the ignition and the exact area of the affected terrain.
