15,000 doses of the nasal flu vaccine for children have arrived in the country. Their distribution in the pharmacy network begins today, as is clear from information published on the online platform "Plus me". This platform was created by the Ministry of Health to promote the benefits of vaccines.
The vaccine is intended for children aged two years and older and is administered by spraying into the nose. For children under the age of nine who have not been vaccinated against seasonal flu, two doses are provided, administered at an interval of 28 days.
The procedure for vaccinating children against the flu involves the parent purchasing the vaccine from the pharmacy network, after which it is administered by a doctor in a medical facility or in an immunization room of the Regional Health Inspectorate (RZI).
Vaccination against seasonal flu is recommended for all children, and is especially important for those with chronic diseases, where the flu can lead to a worsening of their health condition. It is important to note that the nasal vaccine is not suitable for children with immune deficiency or who are undergoing immunosuppressive treatment.
Experts advise that vaccination against seasonal flu be carried out before the start of the flu season, although it is also possible during a flu epidemic.
This year, compared to the previous year, a total of 100,000 more flu vaccines will be delivered to the country. Vaccination against seasonal flu is recommended for all persons over six months of age, and is especially important for children and adults with chronic diseases, pregnant women, as well as for people at increased risk of infection due to their profession – transport workers, military and police officers, medical personnel and others. Vaccination is also recommended for family members who have people at increased risk of complications after the flu due to immunosuppressive conditions, transplantation and other factors.
