Over 110,000 7th and 10th-grade students take the National External Assessment in Bulgarian language and literature today

More than "110,000 students" from "7th" and "10th grade" are taking the national external assessment in "Bulgarian language and literature" today. For seventh graders, this exam acts as an "entrance to high school," and for tenth graders from "combined schools," the results are decisive for whether they can continue their education in "11th" and "12th grade."

The exam for nearly "55,000 seventh graders" starts at "9:00 a.m." Students must be at their schools at least "30 minutes earlier" and are required to bring a "black ballpoint pen for writing," an "identification document," and an "official exam slip" to attend. The exam format includes a total duration of "2 hours and 45 minutes," divided into two parts: "75 minutes" to solve a test with "26 questions" and "90 minutes" to write a "summary of an unstudied literary work."

This morning at "7:30 a.m." at the Ministry of Education, one of "two possible versions" of the exam will be drawn, upon which the seventh graders will work. The draw is conducted according to an established procedure and ensures equal conditions for all students, regardless of which school they are taking the exam at.

The exam for "10th grade" students starts at "8:00 a.m." and has a shorter duration – "an hour and a half." Tenth graders solve a "test with 23 questions," and for this exam, there is no draw of a variant, as "only one" exam version is provided for everyone. The format is unified for the country and aims to measure the knowledge and skills acquired at the end of the first high school stage.

The results from both exams – for "7th" and "10th grade" – must be announced "by July 1." This will allow seventh graders to use the points from the national external assessment for applying to specialized and vocational high schools, and tenth graders from combined schools to plan the next stage of their education. Additional information regarding the organization and deadlines can be found on the official website of the Ministry of Education and Science and on school websites.
