Record number of innovative schools in 2026/2027
In the upcoming 2026/2027 school year, 558 innovative schools will operate in Bulgaria, the Council of Ministers' press office announced. This initiative, which is now in its tenth consecutive year, aims at a lasting change in the quality of education and the introduction of modern pedagogical practices.
Innovation is not just a goal, but a process of development – from intellectual growth to the emotional intelligence of students.
What does the innovation network include?
- Scope: Schools from 198 settlements in 139 municipalities across all 28 districts.
- Growth: 91 new educational institutions that have not been part of the list before are joining.
- Methodology: Implementation of new teaching methods, digital resources, and improved school management.
Monitoring and development
Innovative processes are planned in a four-year cycle. Specific stages are defined for each year, which are subject to strict monitoring. The main focus is on the personal and creative development of students, while encouraging the exchange of best practices among teaching communities.
We remind you that for the 2025/2026 school year, the number of these schools was 526, which shows a stable trend towards the expansion of the innovation network across the country.
