Large-scale anti-smuggling operation at the border
Customs officials from the Customs Agency have achieved significant success in the fight against smuggling, seizing a total of 2.3 tons of illegal plant protection products within two days.
The biggest blow was dealt at the Kalotina Border Checkpoint, where nearly 2,276 kg of insecticides, disguised as PVC granulate, were seized.
Where were the illegal goods discovered?
- Kalotina: During a thorough inspection of a truck traveling to Spain, 4,912 bottles of insecticides and undeclared measuring cups were discovered.
- Vrashka Chuka: Customs officers uncovered 20 liters of herbicide hidden in the factory cavities of a truck, as well as another 10 liters in a passenger bus.
- Danube Bridge 2: During an inspection in the Vidin area, 80,000 cigarettes and 2 kg of smoking tobacco were seized.
Acts for administrative violations under the Customs Act have been drawn up against the offenders. The investigation into the cases is ongoing.
