Large-scale operation against drug production in Pirin
Under the supervision of the Blagoevgrad District Prosecutor's Office, an investigation is underway into the cultivation of an impressive quantity of marijuana in the land of the village of Sugarevo, Sandanski municipality.
Details of the investigation
The investigation began following a specialized operation conducted by the Border Police Station in Petrich and the "Air Surveillance" air detachment. On site, 1,546 green plants with a height between 120 cm and 230 cm were discovered, which tested positive for cannabis.
The total weight of the seized produce amounts to a record 3,215.68 kg.
Procedural actions
- An inspection of the crime scene in the area of the southwestern slopes of the Pirin Mountains was carried out.
- DNA traces and fingerprints were seized from a nearby wooden structure.
- Complex expert examinations have been appointed – physico-chemical, DNA, and dactyloscopic.
- Witness interviews and operational-search activities are being conducted to identify the perpetrators.
The operation is part of the intensified control over the production of narcotic substances and precursors in the region.
