The Crisis in the Education System: Key Highlights
Minister of Education Georgi Valchev stated that our education system is facing serious challenges. A major problem remains the "gap" between good and poor schools, which creates unequal conditions for children.
"It is not normal for children to move to a higher grade without the necessary preparation," the minister emphasized regarding the distorted information about the state of the schools.
Key priorities for change:
- Restoring the connection with the family: Overcoming the perception that parents are merely clients. The family must be an ally in the educational process.
- Modernizing education: Moving away from the model of rote memorization of knowledge that has no practical value, towards acquiring useful skills.
- Addressing demographic challenges: Working with children whose parents work abroad and supporting small schools that will not be closed down.
- Partnership with business: Dual education requires active commitment from the business sector, not just criticism of the state.
Minister Valchev stated that new measures will be sought in partnership with municipalities to stop the "masking of problems" and to build a quality educational environment for every child.
