Massive inspections for illegal waste across the country
The Regional Inspectorates of Environment and Water (RIEW) took part in 195 joint inspections together with the Ministry of Interior authorities. The operation, carried out in the period from June 30 to July 10, aimed at strict control over compliance with the Waste Management Act (WMA).
The results of the operation show 19 acts for administrative violations (AUAN) issued and 88 mandatory instructions with fixed deadlines for correcting the irregularities.
Where were the inspections focused?
- Sites for collection and treatment of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- Facilities for dismantling end-of-life motor vehicles.
- Sites for the treatment of specific types of waste.
- Individuals for whom reports of unregulated activities have been received.
Most common violations
Experts note that the main problems are related to the lack of the necessary permits for waste operations. Unregulated storage or landfilling of garbage on sites that do not meet legal requirements is also often established.
We remind you that in the first six months of the year alone, over 2,000 inspections were carried out in Sofia, and nearly 1,000 penalty slips were issued for illegal waste disposal.
