Increased control over heavy goods vehicle traffic in the country
Intensive inspections of heavy goods vehicles, carried out by teams of the "Traffic Police" at the General Directorate of "National Police", are continuing. The goal of the operation is to ensure road safety through strict control of the technical condition of the vehicles.
Dangerous traffic violations
During the operation on July 21, 258 vehicles and 289 people were inspected. The results are alarming:
- 24 technically faulty vehicles;
- 5 cases of dangerous defects threatening lives;
- 39 drivers and passengers without seat belts;
- 105 acts and penalty slips issued.
"A heavy goods vehicle transporting 20,000 liters of propane-butane was taken out of service due to five missing lug nuts on one of the wheels – the risk of a serious accident was prevented in time," reported the Ministry of Interior.
Why are the inspections being intensified?
By order of the acting Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lyubomir Nikolov, control over heavy goods traffic has become a priority. The operations are being conducted jointly with the "Automobile Administration" in order to clear dangerous trucks from the road network.
