The modern external gate zone of Burgas Airport was officially presented as a landmark project that transforms the passenger experience on the Black Sea coast. The new space spanning 2,200 square meters demonstrates an ambitious strategy for airport infrastructure development.
The opening ceremony gathered key figures from the management team of "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD, including Denica Weismantel, Michael Reusch, and Vasil Atanasov. Local administrators Vladimir Krumov and Dimitar Nikolov were also among the official guests.
The initial introduction of two gates immediately increases the capacity for serving departing passengers by about 20%. The additional expansion in 2026 will lead to a total increase of 35%, highlighting the company's long-term investment intentions.
The solemn opening was accompanied by a spiritual ritual performed by Metropolitan Arseny of Sliven, who blessed the new facility and wished safety for its employees.
The large-scale project is the result of a joint investment with commercial partners such as "Nuance BG" and Lagardère Travel Retail. The total value exceeds 9.5 million euros, demonstrating a serious financial commitment to modernization.
"Our vision is related to sustainable growth and operational excellence," said Michael Reusch, emphasizing the strategic importance of the project. The new gate zone positions Burgas Airport as a modern and customer-oriented gateway to the Black Sea coast.
Alongside Varna Airport, the Burgas facility is now among the first European airports with fully equipped open gate spaces, making it a benchmark for innovative airport infrastructure.
