Modernization of a key road artery in Burgas
Burgas Municipality is taking large-scale measures to improve the city's transport infrastructure. Construction has begun on the first of two planned roundabouts on "Zahari Stoyanov" Blvd., which will replace the current facility towards the "Gorno Ezerovo" district.
The project aims to significantly ease traffic to and from the city's largest residential complex – "Meden Rudnik".
Why are these changes necessary?
- Heavy traffic: Over 23 thousand vehicles pass through the section every 24 hours.
- Strategic importance: The boulevard is a class II urban highway and part of the national road II-79 "Elhovo - Burgas".
- Public transport: 11 public transport lines pass through the route, including the rapid bus line.
Technical details
The new intersection is designed for "heavy" traffic with 3 lanes around the circle (each 4 meters wide). The construction of a modern storm drainage system for effective water management is also planned.
Traffic organization
To minimize inconvenience for drivers, construction activities will be carried out in stages. Planned measures include:
- Temporary connections for cyclists.
- Execution of activities outside peak hours.
